Our History
AMB continues the tradition established by Business Mortgage and Trust in 1987. Mark Collins purchased the company from its owner in 1991. After a brief partnership Mr. Collins went on to successfully run a mortgage company until 1999 when Jim Marks and Suzanne Marks, who worked with Mr. Collins for about two years joined forces to open AMB in late 1999.
The company was very successful growing as quickly as any in the Inc 500 survey. In 2005, AMB closed over $1-billion in mortgages averaging over 600 loans per month. As the economy slowed so did AMB. Today, AMB closes about 130 loans per month and employs just at 250 people, about a third the number in 2005.
Jim and Suzanne Marks decided to surrender their interest in AMB in early 2009 to pursue other interests. This decision returned Mr. Collins as as the sole decision maker for AMB. As he recently announced, “More so now than ever before, AMB focuses on providing insight to our associates, offering advice to help you succeed and providing solutions that help everyone reach their goals efficiently. We work hard to fulfill our mission of Insight, Advice and Solutions.”
